However, if you want to run together, Kelsey and I (Deborah) are planning on doing the Old Sylvan Lake Road route on Saturday, August 23. It is about 9 miles with gentle hills, maybe one bathroom. We can make it longer if you'd like ...

We will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Kimberly Korners shopping plaza on Route 82 right between Hopewell and LaGrange. (Directions: Taconic Parkway to Route 82 North exit. Go about 100 yards on route 82, and turn right into the Kimberly Korners shopping plaza on the right. You'll see a mail depot, some small shops, and a child-care center. Park near the far end, by the child care center.)

Email me at webmaster@mhrrc.org if you have any questions.

Note that next week is Labor Day weekend and everyone will be out of town or at the Mad Dash Race in Rhinebeck ... so, no scheduled training run next week (unless someone wants to volunteer to lead one - contact webmaster@mhrrc.org if you want me to post your training run.)

See Training / Training Runs for more details.

The big deal is that we’re in our second year of supporting- and raising funds for - the Orange County Firefighters’ Museum and Volunteer Firefighters’ causes (Including fire education, etc.). You’ll note that the race is in it’s 18th year (time do fly when you’re havin’ fun!) ... There are bundles of awards (trophies) for both runners and walkers by age group ... Every entrant gets a long sleeve T-shirt (just in time for Fall and Winter road work) ... And the race is the kick-off to a great family day. (The parade alone has over 200 “floats” ... There’s a soap box Derby ... Vendors of all sorts ... Music .. Etc.)

This course follows deserted (and mostly unpaved) back roads past pretty farms and wooded areas. But I can't lie -- there are some challenging hills along the way. Our usual route is 8 miles, but I'm hoping to add on two or three extra -- if that's too far for you, there are easy-to-find landmarks for shorter distances. No bathroom facilities, but plenty of trees.
